Northern Tier Clean Cities Webinar on Heavy Duty EV Charging

Northern Tier Clean Cities Heavy Duty EV Charging Webinar Overview

Successful electrification of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment will require sound charging solutions. In particular, towns and fleets are seeking strategies that address the unique challenges of rural areas and northern climates.  Clean Cities Northern Tier hosted by Peggy O'Neill-Vivanco, Vermont Clean Cities Coalition & Outreach Coordinator, University of Vermont Transportation Research Center, Jessica Wilcox, Granite State Clean Cities Coordinator and New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Transportation Program Specialist, Sara Mills-Knapp, Coordinator & Director of Sustainability, Greater Portland Council of Government, both Sara and John Gagne are with the Maine Clean Communities.

Tom McDonald, Wave Wireless Charging for Medium and Heavy Duty Fleet Operators

Tom McDonald join's the Clean Cities' Northern Tier webinar on Heavy Duty EV Charging.  Tom's primary role at WAVE is to keep medium and heavy-duty fleet operators informed about how wireless charging overcomes many perceived barriers to electrification.  Before joining WAVE, Tom held product management and marketing positions for Apple, Autodesk, Motorola, and several startups.  Tom earned a Master of Education degree at the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Communications from Bradley University in Peoria, IL.

Tiana Smith, Head of Electrification and Sustainability at Green Mountain Power on Heavy Duty EV Charging

Tiana Smith, Head of Electrification and Sustainability at Green Mountain Power joins the Clean Cities Northern Tier webinar on Heavy Duty EV Charging.  Green Mountain Power whose energy supply is 100% carbon free (includes nuclear), 78% renewable, and serves 75% of Vermont, the cleanest grid in the country.  Tiana has two decades of experience in the energy industry leading work centered on innovation and decarbonization.  Tiana joined Green Mountain Power in 2022 to help continue to cut carbon and costs while increasing clean electrification.  She and her family moved to Vermont from Colorado in 2017.  They love to ski at Smuggs, and in the summer they enjoy fishing and hiking with their two St. Bernard/Great Dane dogs.

Scott Bradley, Director of Sales and Strategic Partnerships at Pioneer Power Mobility on e-Boost Mobile EV Charging

Scott Bradley joins the Clean Cities Northern Tier webinar on Heavy Duty EV Charging.  He is the Director of Sales and Strategic Partnerships at Pioneer Power Mobility, a division of Pioneer Power Solutions.  In the last five years, there have been 75 light, medium and heavy duty vehicles that were introduced, and another 50 coming out in the next three years.  Electric vehicles are not all new -- in 1935, UPS had the Walker Electric Truck.  Scott has over 20 years of technology and energy industry experience.  He meets regularly with all major electric vehicle truck manufacturers and charging companies.  Scott holds a degree in electric engineering and a masters in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

Jeff Weld, Director of Communications at Casella Waste Systems on Electrifying their Fleet

Jeff Weld, Director of Communications at Casella Waste Systems joins the Clean Cities Northern tier webinar on Heady Duty EV Charging. Casella is a leader in recycling, advancing zero waste, and capturing landfill emissions (methane gas and turning that into energy, renewable natural gas).  They're in the pilot phase in Vermont to electrify their fleet, which would eliminate 78+ metric tons of GHG emissions annually.  Vermont is an excellent proving ground where the hills, mountains, and swings in temperatures, can affect EV performance and range.  Casella has been helping companies, such as Becton Dickenson become part of the circular economy by recycling their refuse.
